A Promise has a way of creating ‘anxiety’ with a touch of sleeplessness covered with hope (depending on who promised and who was promised a thing). When a promise is made, you find yourself yearning for something to hold onto should that promise stretch for long – especially if all you have are images created by your ability to dream very well. The Bible even says that ” Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.” – Proverbs 13:12
It was one of those times I got a promise and I put a delivery date to it myself, that I felt this way – hence the poem. At some point, I asked for a glimpse of what the promise looked like, something I could have in view to keep me yearning. What have you been promised?
