Quotes I love…! Prayer and Confession

I was going through Max Lucado’s Reading Plan on “The Power of A Simple Prayer” and I picked these up.

Prayer is not a privilege for the pious, not the art of a chosen few. Prayer is simply a heartfelt conversation between God and his child.

Don’t think for a minute that he is glaring at you from a distance with crossed arms and a scowl, waiting for you to get your prayer life together.

Vocabulary and geography might impress people but not God…Just as a happy child cannot mis-hug, the sincere heart cannot mis-pray.

Prayer really is that simple. Resist the urge to complicate it. Don’t take pride in well-crafted prayers. Don’t apologize for incoherent prayers. No games. No cover-ups. Just be honest—honest to God. Climb into his lap. Tell him everything that is on your heart. Or tell him nothing at all.

I feel sometimes we make an already complicated life more twisted with our expectations and “how-to-dos”. Sometimes, coming the way you are with the pain, the incoherencies before God – a God that already knows what is in your heart is all you need. Other times the tears say it all. Whatever, however you choose, all He is saying to you today is ‘COME’.

#FreedomFriday – Prayer Time

Prayer Time

During prayers, King talked about loving God back and ceasing to worry about what we have and do not have, he talked about being grateful to God concerning all He has done for us and for others around us. In order to bring it down to King Earl’s level, he used things King Earl loves, to discuss.

King: God is your friend and He wants to have a conversation with you. So you can actually talk with Him as I’m talking to you and ask Him how He is etc.

King Earl: Yes? (Nodding in agreement)

King: (continues with joy that the message was sinking) then you can ask God for anything. For Golden Morn (King Earl loves this a lot, he even asked for it as a gift on his birthday), Milo Cereal, Cars (he loves cars too).

At this point, I whispered into his ears “Horses” and his face lit up. When we were done with the sermon, King Earl said, “and God will give me Coco pops too!” Someone better let God know that King Earl is on a “ask and receive” spree this morning and given the things he loves, our house will be full of wild animals!

TE15: The Experience!

What is an Experience?

• a particular instance of personally encountering or undergoing something:
• the process or fact of personally observing, encountering, or undergoing something:
• the observing, encountering, or undergoing of things generally as they occur in the course of time:
• the observing, encountering, or undergoing of things generally as they occur in the course of time:

As you can see in the various meanings, a thread runs through all the meanings. Personal Observation, Encountering and Undergoing. TE15 is around the corner and the rave is on to be part of the music, dance, worship, commerce and networking. Beyond all these, what are you hoping to get at the Experience.

‘The’ signifies that it is specific. Yes it is a concert, but for me this years’ Experience is going to be worth every wait. I’m coming out of every limitation (physical, spiritual, mind etc.) I’m looking forward to a paradigm shift and taking it heads-on; no kid gloves in this matter. I call it deliverance. I don’t know how I came about that phrase, but it resonates so strongly within me and that’s what my expectation is hinged on.

As we gather on the 4th of December to Praise, Pray, Worship and War-ship (Warfare) what will you observe, encounter and believe to undergo. I have told you mine, let’s hear yours and if you don’t have one yet, you still have 10 days to get fired up in the expectation arena!

For there will be shouts of Joy, Songs of Deliverance, a Dance, Abundance, Restoration, Victory, Miracles, Signs and Wonders and definitely Salvation! The list is endless. It will also be a time to be ‘naked and unashamed’ before your Maker in true worship. Just you and Him. So what’s it gonna be at #TheExperience10 . Get your praise on!

Freedom Friday on a Saturday – Change

If you live in Nigeria at the moment, the most popular word in recent times is CHANGE and if ‘CHANGE‘ were to charge us every time we called his name, he’d be smiling to the Bank per second. Sadly, Change can’t afford to be caught in the monotony of stability or ‘sanity’ as he must keep up with his title. Like they say and it is quite paradoxical that “Change Is The Only Constant Thing In Life”. The thought of Change being constant is preposterous!

Well, I’m given to Change, as long as it is for the better. So tonight, I’m going to change things on my knees or standing – however I deem comfortable – through prayers. I need things to be Peaceful, I work on them and I pray. I need a job, I apply, prepare for the post/interview and pray etc. The world is going crazy…I pray and change things.

What if things don’t CHANGE? What if it is all in the grand plan for the end to be beautiful? Then, it is wise to connect with One who knows the end from the beginning and that’s where I am, not just for the moment but for life!

Seasoned Sistah2 came to a point she had to make some changes in her life for the better. Let’s do this trip with her and learn other ways to fight pain. Read it up. Sadly, we couldn’t get her more nature pictures for this week. But lets see how that goes next week.

I just love this quote because it takes the focus to your part in the whole matter.

As a believer, faith with works is what is preached. But many have put faith in a box and pray it will yield fruits for them without any committment on their part.

As a writer, after imagining the thoughts, SHARE it, so others can be part of that world that makes yours go round! It might take a bit of something from you, but like NIKE says, “Risk Everything!”

Are U Ready?!!!

Yes, It’s less than 20 hours and counting down to The Experience of a lifetime #1G1V and you have no reason to be absent from the whole gbedu (as a typical Yoruba person would say) but for me, it will be a mix of Gbedu, Unek, Ikwo, Ekom ye Itoro to Abasi mmi. Andikara Eyong ye Isong ye kpukpuru si dude ke esid.

Ooops I forgot myself there…but then I’m sure the Holy One would give you interpretation if you ask. Its happening live at the Tafawa Balewa Square – Don Moen, Donnie McClurkin, Sinach, Onos, Frank Edwards, Angella Christie, Micah Stampley, Israel Houghton, Chioma Jesus, The Alabaster Box, Nathaniel Bassey, Freke Umoh and yours truly will be in attendance. I look forward to seeing you there but then with a crowd like that, I’m sure we will only connect in the Spirit 🙂

I’m loving the moment already and the excitement is high up to the heavens. I’m expectant and so should you. Well, there’ll be live streaming…hook up if you can and you won’t regret it.
