#WQWWC – Beauty

Last week, Colleen put up a challenge tagged Beauty and like you know, she brings out the fresh lyrics in me.

Whether in the eye of the Beholder

Or vested in the thing itself, I see Beauty

Sometimes revealed and loud, undeniable

Hidden, calm and not proud, not definable

It’s in the morning unfolding between dusk and dawn

Radiating from the eyes, dancing to the lips in smiles

A giggle and it spreads its arms in affection, that’s Beauty!

It’s the stolen kiss between spouses in a crowd

Lost in a world with no walls, stares or frowns

Beauty in the dark, as in the Light

Glowing, refusing to be bound by limitations

Allowing the crack add spice to smoothness

I could go on and on, but no need to…

When you have seeing eyes and believing hearts…

There will always be Beauty!

#FreedomFriday: A Kaleidoscope of Colours!

Freedom Friday offers me the opportunity to explore and just be me – uncut and raw…in a nice way that is. I’m thinking quietly – maybe loudly and I’m truly tempted to fill your world with the beauty of culture. In Nigeria, we are surrounded by good food and style. As a believer in beauty and good food, I derive pleasure in basking in the pure joys these bring.

So today, I’ll let you in on personal stuff and people I truly love as they display beauty in all their colours. I hope they are pleasing to your eyes, joyful to your heart and widening the smile across your face. Do tell me about it!

Arts Freedom Fridays Nigeria People I've met

The Queen is back!

Needing respite and more inspiration, I quickly grabbed the opportunity by my colleague to follow him to an art Gallery just around the corner. Of course I know I’m going to an Art Gallery, so by default, I’m expecting to see Artworks and more Artworks and probably some ‘crazy looking Artwork!’

But nothing…NOTHING prepares you for the world you are about to step into!

I was blown away!

I felt like a child in her favourite toy shop…I went from one section to the other.

I’m told (and I also noticed) that I hadn’t even gone to the other levels yet.

I’m sure you are already itching to know what happened…hold it!

You see, it’s one thing to walk in somewhere and all you get is that ‘nose-in-the-air’, ‘the-animals-with-horns-were-called-for-a-meeting-and-the-snail-went-also‘ attitude. After being weighed, scaled and found wanting on their faulty scale, no one gives you the attention that should be given to a guest. But not so here. It was all warmth and colours and dress-change. You will understand in a moment as I let the pictures speak.

By the way, I went to Nike’s Art Gallery and meet MAMA! So cool abi? We had a little chat, and she shared great joys in simple things. You could see her love for Arts shine through. She talked about how you could easily create art, whilst showing us Artwork from Bicyle tyres, disposable cups and paper etc. I left there deciding not to throw broken wares away but create beauty and more inspired than when I got there.

I met a Prof or Dr. but sadly I can’t remember his name. He stays in Colombia (I think), Oh my goodness, why didn’t I just write this down. I guess I was too overwhelmed with all the beauty. I met an elderly man, I think it’s Mama’s hubby but I didn’t ask him. We had an interesting conversation and I told him I was married to an artist too. He wanted to know if it was the ‘dada-kind’, told him the ‘afro-pops-kind’ and by the time I showed him King’s picture with his afro and suit looking dapper, he exclaimed “Now that’s a proper artist, I’d like to meet him”. So King got an appointment without seeking one! LOL. Yet to go there though.

Did I mention? She signed my book which I bought there (at a discount) and offered us drinks! Who does that?! I’ll be visiting her shortly for a proper interview and to see the other levels of beauty I had missed out on. I think you should go see things for yourself.

#Writer’s Quote Wednesday on a Thursday

Writer's Quote Wednesday_191115 I’m thinking aloud, so loud that you can hear my thoughts and I’m asking you…are your feet BEAUTIFUL?

Certainly!

The finest ever!

Dainty…pristine like that of a princess.

And I ask the next question, do preach PEACE?! Can someone, anyone point at you and say that’s a PEACEMAKER. In a world going bonkers with everyone wanting to be heard whether what they say is okay for all (to a great extent) or a select few. Do you seek peace?

And I’m also wondering how many beautiful-footed writers we have; those who delight in peace? Well, I was hoping not to say much today, but to get you to think whilst you do what you do best.

As you have a re-think and probably refocus how you preach what you preach, Colleen and friends have something they want to share with you and it’s all at the #WQW

Photo Rehab #13 – Beauty

I love beauty…whether it’s the way food is displayed or the eyes made up (I’m good at this one) wink or the little pieces you add to a dress to make it different, I just love the aesthetic abilities some people are gifted with and the manner with which they maximize it.

So, I went on a trip and as we stepped into the lobby of the hotel, I met this amazing light and decorative item on the side table. I hope they give you pleasure like they did me! And off to the #PhotoRehab Clinic I go!

Photo Rehab #10 – Up Close & Bangles

Up Close & Bangles! My sister has these wide range of really lovely Indian bangles that she sells and they come in beautiful vibrant colors. Pleasing to the eyes and a treasure to have. I took shots of some for my last week’s Photo challenge. What do you think about my Close Up?

By the way, I’m taking it to the #PhotoRehab Clinic, it could do with some of these colors!

Photo Rehab #5 – The Clouds

Frances found a Big white Cloud

Its glow was white as snow

And everywhere that Frances went

The cloud was sure to go!

From Golden to off-white,

Whatever the shade, I loved it so!

Clouds

I was on my way to Ife (an ancient town full of history and lots of green, #folakeodoaje would tell you better about her) a while ago and I met this cloud. Initially I ignored ‘him’ (yup…definitely a male) but he just kept chasing and chasing as we sped on. So I decided to oblige him and snap away. By the first picture, he had a tinge of gold as we turned under the bridge and came to the other side, he became almost white and managed to chage colours till it was too dark to see him anymore. But I knew in my heart that he went with me all the way, only that the dark had overpowered its brightness by the reason of changing times.

Landscape: Found Poetry & Enumeratio

Day 9: It’s about any Lanscape, exploring it and how you interact with it, using Found Poetry and Enumeratio. I didn’t do the Found Poetry thingy but attempted to initiate Enumeratio into the poem.

University of IFE

Land of Greens, Green trees, grasses, lush vegetation and flowers
Of bright colours and freshness.
With an expanse unending sprawled across lands, stark beauty for even the blind
The landscape looking like home for wild animals, undiscovered flowers and plenty reptiles
With dashes of dark zinc poking through bending trees and streets that lead to another in a maze so winding you become displeased!
Surrounded by hills that seem small from a distance and within arm’s reach.
Your innate beauty is untainted by civilization and too much technology.
I’m revived with each visit and lungful of fresh breeze, scenic pleasure amongst others.
